111517 - Introduction to Social Work (2023/FA:SOCI-225-01)
A study designed to promote understanding of and stimulate students’ interest in human services by exploring the nature, roles, values, and responsibilities of social workers.
This course is designed to introduce students to the scope, philosophies, needs, and opportunities available in the field of social work. Students will ascertain knowledge of various helping professions and social work skills in ways that are consistent with social work values. Students will also become familiar with the various levels of social work including practice at the micro, mezzo, and macro levels. Students will learn the practical application of course material to further their goals in social work or other human service careers.
