EDMG-315 Foundations of Middle Grades Education is designed to give  prospective secondary teachers an overview of the theoretical models of middle level education including a broad overview of the historical, sociological, and philosophical foundations of the American education system with a focus on the middle grades.  Candidates will explore young adolescent and adolescent characteristics, middle grades teaching, student learning, and organizational characteristics of a 6 - 9 school.  This course is appropriate for middle grades (6 - 8) and high school (6 - 12) prospective teachers.
