82035 - Intro Multicultural Ministry (2020/SP:CHMN-320-01)

This course is premised upon the understanding that multicultural ministry is normative for the mission of the Church.  Consequently, the course provides students with an appreciation for ministry from culturally diverse perspectives.  Students are apprised of the basic tools required for integrating pastoral and theological skills in multicultural contexts.

This course is intended to introduce the student with the competencies necessary to minister effectively in a world where pluralism, diversity and multiculturalism have become operant terms and realities.  Specific areas of study will include an understanding of North America’s multicultural heritage, the ministry models of various mono-cultural and multi-cultural churches, and investigation of conflict mediation across culture.
