This required doctoral-level course is designed to develop a working understanding of quantitative research methods and the basic concepts applied in descriptive and inferential statistics. This introductory course will cover quantitative research principles, basic statistical procedures, and interpreting and reporting statistical results. This course will emphasize interpretation and application rather than computation. Throughout the course, students will learn how to use JASP software to analyze data in educational settings. Topics will include frequency distributions, central tendency, descriptive statistics, hypothesis testing, correlation, prediction, regression, t Test, and ANOVA. Ultimately, the course is intended to develop a foundational knowledge of statistics in educational research and to use statistics as a research tool to analyze, interpret, and create original quantitative research in applied research settings. No prior statistical knowledge is required.
