Welcome to EDUC 593-03: Math and Science Seminar (Directed Research)! This main focus of this course is on learning to engage students in meaningful classroom participation and discussions. This course is designed to help you think deeply about how to facilitate learning through productive discussions. Over the course of the class, we will explore how to ask purposeful questions, support student thinking by encouraging them to build on one another’s ideas, and create opportunities for multiple students to actively participate. A central goal of the course is to help you foster a classroom environment where students feel that their thinking and contributions are valued and are an important part of their learning. I look forward to working with each of you!
