EDMG-315 Foundations of Middle Grades Education is designed to give the prospective secondary teachers an overview of the theoretical models of middle level education and to provide a broad overview of the historical, sociological, and philosophical foundations of the American education system and specifically the middle grades.  Candidates will explore young adolescent and adolescent characteristics, middle grades teaching, student learning, and organizational characteristics of a 6 - 9 school.  This course is appropriate for middle grades (6 - 8) and high school (6 - 12) prospective teachers.
